Many computer users nowadays, especially laptop users, use the Universal Serial Bus or USB. This is a convenient external storage that you can bring anywhere, so that you're ready for anything anytime. There are many types and sizes of USB in the market. May I suggest that if you're a computer person, you must have at least 2GB memory card. This size is just enough for your downloaded new computer games, downloaded mp3s, or the latest Pirates of the Carribean.

To be able to add the external storage, you have to insert your USB on the USB port of your laptop. Your laptop will automatically detect this drive and will give you three options: open to view your files, play with Windows Media Player, and copy pictures. You can ignore these options. Close the pop-up and go to My Computer. You can open removable disks in this location. Finally, you can now add or copy anything to and from your external memory.

Compared to desktop computers, most of the traditional laptops that we have do not have as much storage capability. That is why it is no surprise when laptop owners experience a lag whenever they switch from one application to another. Sometimes, the download of information from the internet becomes time-consuming, too.
I think one of the best inventions that we have right now is the memory stick. Memory cards are very convenient and not only can it be used to store messages and photos from your mobile phone, but it can also serve as space for your documents and images on your laptop. That is the reason why aside from external hard drives, flash memory stick readers are deemed essential peripherals for notebooks.
How do these card readers connect to your notebook? Well, they are pretty simple to attach and use. Just plug in the USB in the port of the laptop, place the card into the reader and you're good to go. You can now transfer your files from the memory card to the computer or back. Since these readers are smaller and more portable than hard drives, they tend to be more expensive. But, their functionality is unquestionable because their capacity to store large amounts of data much like the hard disk.

Computer hardware manufacturers have not been creating computers with 3.5 floppy drives anymore. We don't know if it's temporary or permanent, but as you have noticed, floppies are going out of trend. It's best to use a USB flash drive now.
Aside from having larger memory capacity, it also writes and copies data from the computer very fast. Some USB flash drive has changeable cases which you can match with your outfit or your laptop's cover. It is very useful when you have big presentations or when you need to take unfinished work at home.
