My laptop is my buddy. I bring it anywhere; even if I go to sports practices, adventurous scuba diving adventures, or even to a simple sip of coffee at Starbucks. It has become an essential part of me because I can do whatever I want with it -- Internet browsing, music downloading, video streaming, and many more. I don't know but I probably have influenced my younger brother to do the same. He also has his laptop anywhere he goes. Actually, we have three laptops in our house; one for our parents, my brother's, and mine.
One boring day, we decided to play an online game. We needed a router to connect with each other. That means my mom would see my secret files. I don't want to mention what it contains. However, my computer was the main server so I had control of everything. I immediately put a password to my administration interface to protect my files. Then, we all played happily ever after.
Securing wireless networks is a simple yet essential thing. We have to protect our computers when we indulge in wireless networking. Aside from firewall that blocks viruses from other networks, we need to personally do certain ways to keep our computer private. One example is putting personal password to your administration interface. If your computer is the main server, have a unique password that no one can ever guess. This simple reminder goes to all computer users that have wireless networking at home or in business offices. As for my laptop, I always ensure that it's secured and safe.

Enough of the business world today since notebooks and laptops aren't only existing in our office and business firms. With the incessant development in our technology and the appearance of more gadgets that are easily reach by the masses, more people are turning to using laptops as a universal tool. Now it is not only use to as a device to finish marketing reports and financial statements; even students are now using these digital notebooks to supplant their old, messy, spiral, bound papers.
However, there are schools and classroom professors who are banning the use of laptops during classes. This is because not all students are using the digital gadgets as an aid for note taking and research but as an entertainment provider when the lessons become too boring and students feel like Mr. and Mrs. Smith are sending them in to deep stupor. Surfing the net for hottest beach hunks while the teacher is having a serious lecture on global warming effects is not a likely good use for notebooks in school.
Although I must admit that they are a great help just like personal digital assistants because it allows you to have an easy access to any information you need. However, the rampant abuse of this right exasperated teachers since they feel like students' faces are focused on their monitors than the blackboard.
There were reports that there were students who are against the prohibition of laptops submitted complaints on school officials. But fortunately, campus administrators know what's best for the students and they dismissed the complaints. Lesson learned: it is okay to use technology if you are utilizing it to broaden your minds and to maximize your study habits. However, abuse and stupidity are not accepted in class.

One of the most remarkable advancements in the internet technology today is the wireless networking. In the past, internet users needed cable wires and connectors in order to access the internet or set up a work station. Of course, wire connections are still used today. Nonetheless, networking and web access are done differently and more conveniently with the new technology of wireless internet. The mobility of internet users was limited in the past due to the need for cable connection. Today, they can surf the web anywhere as long as they are connected to a base station or hotspot.
The wide range of benefits and privileges that wireless networking offers is undoubtable. There are some set backs though that you need to take note of when you are using this technology. Since internet connectivity is enabled mostly by codes, your PC becomes more vulnerable to hacking and other bad data. Needless to say, there are some effective security systems you can use in order to protect your PC. Moreover, getting a wireless internet access can also cost you money since many providers charge you a certain amount. You can save money though by finding a free hotspot in your area.

The term wireless networking refers to the technology which enables two or more computers to be connected using radio signals instead of networking cables. This allows the sharing of files, printers as well as Internet access. In some cases, using cable wires is impractical, it occupies space and it can be an electronic hazard. In a wireless network, each computer is equipped with a wireless LAN adapter or card, which is a type of radio transceiver. Desktops and notebooks have internal and external configuration of adapters.
Here’s how wireless networks operate. A wireless LAN sends data in packets which contains data and the address of both the recipient and the sender. The adapters have a permanent ID number which serves as their addresses. Before sending out a packet, a LAN adapter checks for openings in the network. When a pause is detected by the adapter, packets are then sent out. If other data is detected on the radio frequency by adapters, it will pause for a few moments and then checks again. Each PC sends and receives data from all PC’s equipped with a transceiver. An access point, which is usually mounted on a wall, serves as the terminal for the signals sent and received by transceivers in the network.

Have more than one computer at home? Want to share the internet connection with your daughter’s computer? Then set-up a wireless networking at home. First, you need to have a wireless networking kit, windows installation software and Ethernet cable. Second, you must install a wireless router and set-up parameters for it. Choose a service set identifier and encrypt your wireless network so hackers and intruders won’t be able to open your computer files. This is a money-saving tool as it connects all your computers at home with just one server.
