Here comes another new player in the laptop world. Averatec does everything it takes to beat Dell Computers,
Apple Computer Inc, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. The company is punching above its weight
with its aim of rivaling other mainstays in the computer industry. After the black, sleek notebook collection, the company recently came out with the white laptop series.
They've reinvented the wheel with its Averatec AV3715ED1. The unit looks more like an Apple MacBook at first glance. It runs on an AMD Sempron mobile engine and a
Microsoft XP operating system that enable it to handle the most demanding office applications. This lame workhorse weighs only 4 pounds which makes it a little portable than any of its contemporaries. It's packaged with a lousy wireless local area network ensuring a boring Internet connection.
My gripes: The 12.1" screen is definitely not wide and brilliant. The features in the product specs are all hat, no cattle. The native resolution of 1024 by 768 is too good to be true. This machine failed to give pleasing images for DVD films. I hate raking something over the coals, but I sincerely think that this piece of metal is made in bad taste. I therefore conclude that this model is only good as a work tool but not for entertainment purposes.
